The Zurich advert featuring hundreds of people using Powerisers gave me the inspiration to get into the new sport of Powerbocking undoubtedly like many others who saw the same advert.
The advert featured the strap line 'What happens if your latest product goes global in a single bound' which, as far as I was concerned, perfectly summed-up the potential of this new sport at the time.
I had only previous seen these sprung stilts on performers at the 2006 Streets of Brighton festival like the hilarious bouncing superhero and others. My girlfriend and I both noticed these stilts being used and thought that they were pretty cool, in fact my girlfriend remembered seeing a guy that used a kind of sprung shoe to weave in and out of the traffic on his way to work in George Street, Sydney everyday who was pretty good.
Well the seed had been sown but it wasn't until I saw the Zurich advert that my perception of these sprung boot things changed from 'looks interesting but maybe best left to other people' to 'wow must seek out and get a pair of those things' and a convert was born. Fortunately by this time there was enough information on the web to provide me with the name 'Poweriser' and I was able to find like minded people and, eventually, a source where I could purchase a pair from.
The above video has been taken from the German language version of the Zurich website and is only shown here so that I can share the content with those interested in the sport of Powerbocking. I am interested in getting my hands on the English version so can anyone with a copy send it to me via email here or submit a new article via the member's area.
